Water Spots On Carrara Marble

Marble countertops and other surfaces are no stranger to ink stains.

Water spots on carrara marble. Other safe cleansers include acetone which is suitable for dark marble colors. Etching is the cause of these seemingly transparent or chalky dull spots as seen in the photo at the top of the page. Opt for a gentle cleaner that is ph neutral. Don t use soap as it is fat based and can cause the stone to darken.

Vinegar ammonia hydrogen peroxide lemon orange or other citrus cleaners cleaners that are acidic. Water spots and dull spots on marble vanity tops or countertops are a common marble repair issue on both honed and polished surfaces. It happens on all marble including carrara marble as well as travertine limestone and onyx. Mold is a common problem in many bathroom settings.

Water spots are defined as water deposits built up on your marble surface. This occurs when water containing large amounts of mineral deposits like calcium and magnesium commonly called hard water is allowed time to dry on your marble surface. You can use a cleaner specifically meant for marble or store bought detergent. Water stains are yet another common stain that occurs on marble.

Clean the marble with warm water and detergent. These stains can be the result of a water glass that was left on a marble countertop for too long or from hard water buildup around sinks and showers. After the water dries and evaporates it leaves behind these mineral deposits on your marble surface. They may look lighter clear or the same color as your marble.

If left to air dry spots result. Mold can stain marble bathroom countertops floors etc. Blot wine soda juices and other liquids from the surface with paper. Gentle dishwashing liquid and a soft cloth may be all you need for daily cleaning to remove water spots and other dirt.

However they are not caused by water. Plain water can also be effective for keeping marble spotless.
