Water Pump Check Valve Placement

The hose coming from the fresh water tank also has the typical switch for winterizing. In summary a well piping check valve prevents water from siphoning back out of the water tank and water pump and down into the presumably lower water well when the pump stops running.

Choosing the right one for your application is key. The check valve should go on the hose coming from the fresh water tank. The arrow on the check valve should be pointing towards the water pump. Additional check valves may be installed on well piping inside the well within 25 ft.

Check valves are found in many industries and with various applications ranging from municipal water to mining and natural gas. They are available in several styles and sizes from 1 8 inch to as large as may be required. A check valve shall be installed in the discharge line of all pumps compressors or blowers whether centrifugal or rotary unless there is no possibility of a reverse flow or pressure surge such as water hammer under any conditions. Of the well bottom and under water that is below the top of the static head level of the well water and again every 200 feet of vertical well piping in very deep well installations.

The check valve shall be located between the machine discharge flange and the discharge block valve. Check valves or one way valves are designed to stop backflow and ultimately to protect pumps and compressors. The existing one has a 1 laundry hose with no check valve that discharges to a floor.
