Water Bottle Fountain Experiment

Water bottle fountain experiment. Add the funnel to your bottle and carefully pour your water into the bottle. This experiment has lots of variations and many different ways of building depending upon time and resources. If the bottle is wet the blu tac will be hard to stick. When you invert the water bottle then plain water of the bottle starts to flow out from drainage straw due to gravity and air pressure decreases inside the bottle.

We might just decide to feature it here. You ll notice that water will rise up through the straw to the same height as the water inside the bottle. Fill a small bowl with cold tap water food colouring is optional but makes a much prettier fountain. If you make one why not film it and upload it to youtube you never know.

Empty the water into a jug so you can boil it again to repeat the experiment or pour it on a plant once it has cooled down. This is the hardest part of the activity and is best done by an adult. This is due to equal air pressure pushing downwards through the opening of the straw and the bottle. Wear a thick glove or oven mitt to handle the bottle.
